A Trusted Business Ready for a Modern Experience
Five Star Electric has served St. George and Southern Utah for over 30 years, earning a reputation for quality workmanship and dependable service. However, its website no longer reflected the professionalism of the business. Over time, additional pages and scattered content made it harder for visitors to quickly find services, build trust, and request service.
The existing website had grown over time, resulting in multiple pages and a navigation structure that made it harder for visitors to quickly find the information they needed.
Key Challenges:
One-Page Navigation
The website was redesigned into a streamlined one-page experience, allowing visitors to access services, company information, testimonials, and contact details without navigating between multiple pages.
Benefits:
The website was designed with performance and local visibility in mind through a lightweight one-page layout, responsive design, and SEO-focused content.
Benefits:
Faster loading times
Improved mobile performance
Better local search visibility

Understanding the Business
Five Star Electric wanted a modern website that reflected over 30 years of experience while improving usability, performance, and local visibility. The redesign prioritized simplicity, trust, and helping customers quickly request service.
Competition
I analyzed local electrical service providers throughout Southern Utah to identify common design patterns, opportunities for differentiation, and expectations users have when searching for residential and commercial electrical services.

Key Design Decisions
Priorities:
Key Insight 1: Simplicity Builds Trust
Users often visit contractor websites with a specific goal. Reducing unnecessary navigation allows them to find services and contact information more efficiently.
Key Insight 2: Credibility Should Be Immediate
Key Insight 3: Mobile Performance Matters
Many users search for local service providers on mobile devices. A responsive, lightweight design helps improve both usability and accessibility.
Successfully balanced user needs with business goals through a simplified, performance-focused redesign.
This redesign demonstrates how simplifying an existing website can improve usability while supporting business goals. By focusing on performance, trust, and information hierarchy, the new experience helps users quickly find the information they need and confidently request electrical services.
Reflection
This project reinforced that every client requires a different design process. Rather than following a rigid UX framework, I adapted my approach to the client’s goals balancing user experience, business needs, and technical considerations to create a faster, more focused website.
